The Velachery MRTS Train Service Road is getting a major facelift and is soon set to emerge as a bustling nighttime entertainment zone, modeled after the successful Kathipara Urban Square in Guindy.According to officials, the final phase of the redevelopment work is progressing rapidly, with completion expected in the coming weeks. The project aims to transform the stretch into a safe, well-lit, and activity-filled public space that will draw residents and visitors alike.
Once completed, the upgraded road will feature decorative lighting, pedestrian-friendly walkways, landscaped seating areas, and improved amenities. Authorities believe the new layout will not only enhance the locality’s aesthetics but also ease traffic congestion by streamlining vehicular movement around the MRTS station.
Officials added that the new Velachery entertainment corridor will offer Chennaiites a fresh venue for evening leisure and community gatherings, marking another milestone in the city’s efforts to promote accessible, people-centric urban spaces.
