Elderly woman mauled by stray dogs in Saidapet

A 70-year-old woman was badly injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked her in Sri Nagar Colony, Saidapet, on Thursday.
The woman, Bala Soundarya, was chased and bitten by several dogs. She fell during the attack and suffered a fractured hip bone, along with multiple dog bite wounds.
Locals rushed her to a private hospital in Vadapalani, where she is now receiving treatment. Doctors confirmed the fracture and deep bite marks.
The Kotturpuram police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
Residents of the area say this is not the first attack. Many such cases have been reported recently in the city. People are worried about safety, especially for children and the elderly.
The incident has renewed public anger about the growing stray dog population in Chennai. Locals have urged civic officials to act quickly and prevent more such attacks.
