Actor and political leader Vijay will meet the families of those who died in last month’s Karur stampede on Monday,  in Mamallapuram. This meeting comes exactly one month after 41 people lost their lives in a crowd crush during the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally held at Veluchamipuram, Karur.
Vijay had previously reached out to the bereaved families via video call and announced ₹20 lakh financial assistance for each affected family, which was promptly credited to their bank accounts.
Plans for an in-person meeting were delayed due to logistical issues with securing a venue in Karur, heightened by an ongoing CBI investigation and the need for legal clearances.TVK has now invited the families to Mamallapuram near Chennai, where Vijay will offer condolences and support in a private gathering. Party officials visited the families to coordinate all travel arrangements and ensure their comfort during the event.
The move is seen as a fulfillment of Vijay’s public promise to provide personal support, marking a significant effort for closure and communal mourning after the tragedy. All details regarding the meeting will be shared directly with the families, and strict crowd control and privacy measures will be in place for their security and comfort.
