In a significant development in the Sabarimala gold theft case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recovered over 400 grams of gold and ₹2 lakh in cash linked to the heist.
The recovery operation, led by SP Sasidharan, was conducted at the residence of Unnikrishnan Potti in Pulimath, Pathanamthitta. Potti, a former administrative officer of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), is the prime accused in the case. Additionally, gold bars weighing over 400 grams were seized from the shop of jeweller Govardhan in Ballari, Karnataka.
Investigators have found records of financial transactions between Potti and Govardhan, indicating the sale of stolen gold. The SIT’s efforts continue as they work towards recovering the remaining stolen temple gold and holding all responsible parties accountable.
The Sabarimala gold theft case has garnered widespread attention due to the involvement of temple officials and the misappropriation of sacred gold.
