Actress Geetha Kailasam, who plays the titular role in Angammal directed by Vipin Radhakrishnan, shared her experience of performing a demanding scene for the film.Based on a short story by acclaimed writer Perumal Murugan, Angammal also features actors Sharan, Bharani, Mullai Arasi, and Thendral Raghunathan. Jointly produced by Store Bench, Enjoy Films, and Pro Movie Station, the film is set for release on November 21.
At the film’s recent press meet in Chennai, Geetha recalled the challenges of portraying a bold rural woman. In one notable sequence, she rides a TVS 50 motorcycle through rough village roads without wearing a blouse, smoking a rolled cigar.
“The shoot took place in Padmaneri near Kalakkad in Tirunelveli district. I practiced smoking cigars and beedis for the role, and my family even warned me not to get used to it,” she said with a smile.
She added that riding the bike on uneven roads while staying in character was tough initially but became easier over time. “It was challenging for the first two days, but I managed without falling even once. The experience was both tough and thrilling,” Geetha said.
