In a major verdict, notorious rowdy Karuka Vinoth has been sentenced to ten years of imprisonment by the Poonamallee NIA Special Court.
The case relates to the petrol bomb attack which took place near the Governor’s residence at Guindy, Chennai, in 2023.
Vinoth, who was already known to police for his criminal activities, had thrown petrol bombs outside the Governor’s mansion last year, causing alarm and drawing sharp public reaction.
He was promptly arrested by the police following the incident, which was subsequently transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further probing given the security sensitivity involved.
After extensive investigation and trial, the NIA Special Court delivered its judgment, awarding Karuka Vinoth ten years of rigorous imprisonment for his crime.
