Lebanon,  Nov 20: An Israeli airstrike on a car in the southern Lebanese village of Tiri on Wednesday killed one person and wounded 11 others, including students on a passing school bus, the Health Ministry and state media reported.
The strike came hours after an Israeli drone attack on the Ein el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon killed 13 people and injured several more, the deadliest attack since last year’s Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire. The bus was near the targeted car when the strike occurred, leaving students and the driver injured.
The identity of the person killed in the car was not immediately known.
Israel said Tuesday night’s strike targeted a Hamas training compound allegedly preparing attacks against Israel, but Hamas denied the facility, including a playground, was used for military purposes. Paramedics at Wednesday’s site found burnt cars, debris, and human remains.
Tensions remain high along the Israel-Lebanon border. Palestinian factions in refugee camps have begun surrendering weapons to Lebanon, while the government seeks to disarm Hezbollah.
The 2023 Israel-Hezbollah war killed over 4,000 in Lebanon, including civilians, caused $11 billion in damages, and killed 127 in Israel, including 80 soldiers.

Earlier, a strike on the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp killed 13, the deadliest since last year’s ceasefire. Israel said it hit a Hamas training site, while Hamas denied it.
Tensions escalate as Lebanon resists disarming Hezbollah amid US pressure.
