AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has asserted that it was the AIADMK that gave former minister K.A. Sengottaiyan both political identity and positions in public life.
Addressing a campaign meeting at Gobichettipalayam, Palaniswami predicted that the alliance led by the AIADMK would secure a massive victory in the next Assembly elections and that the party would win the Gobichettipalayam constituency by a huge margin.
Listing past achievements, Palaniswami said the long-pending Athikadavu–Avinashi project, which had been demanded for 50 years, was completed by the AIADMK government using only State funds.
Palaniswami recalled that an MLA from the constituency, elected with people’s votes, later resigned without consulting them and has now joined another party. He said those who betrayed the AIADMK would be judged by God, and questioned how that MLA could boycott an event for the Athikadavu–Avinashi project citing the absence of M.G.R. and Jayalalithaa’s portraits, but later join a rival party under a different leader’s image.
