Peshawar, Dec 13: At least five policemen were injured when TTP terrorists attacked the Shaikh Landak police checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district on Thursday night. The attackers, referred to by officials as Fitna al Khawarij, exchanged fire with police for three hours before being repelled. Several terrorists were reportedly killed or injured. Additional forces were deployed on the orders of Bannu DIG Sajjad Khan, who, along with DPO Yasir Afridi, praised the police’s bravery. The injured officers were later visited at the hospital. The incident followed a quadcopter attack earlier in the day that injured seven people, including children, during a football match. Pakistan has recently seen rising militant violence, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the TTP ended a ceasefire in November 2022, leading to increased attacks and intensified counter-terror operations.
