Tamil Nadu’s economic resilience is rooted in its long-term focus on developing human capital, with a large share of young people pursuing higher education, Information Technology and Digital Services Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said on Saturday.Addressing the Bizfest conclave organised by the Rajasthan Association Tamil Nadu, the Minister said close to half of the State’s youth enter college, creating a strong base of skilled manpower. He observed that economic growth strategies differ across States and pointed out that some regions rely more on infrastructure-led growth.
Referring to Gujarat, PTR said growth there has been powered mainly by improved power supply and road networks, even though school completion rates are lower. In contrast, he said Tamil Nadu has consistently prioritised education, which has shaped its development path.
The Minister underlined the importance of grooming young entrepreneurs and preparing youth to enter business and industry. With artificial intelligence and new technologies reshaping the economy, he said the next generation must be trained to respond quickly to change and create new opportunities.
He added that Tamil Nadu should aspire to build one of the strongest talent pools in the country. The State, he noted, is currently recording a real GDP growth rate of 11.19%, outperforming several other States.
