Batting-friendly pitch awaits in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Dec 19: Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is no stranger to the Indian team, with the Men in Blue having played multiple matches at the venue over the years.
The ground, which also serves as the home base of Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, has ensured that most players are well acquainted with its overall conditions.
The pitch, traditionally known for its flat surface and consistent bounce, is expected to once again favour the batters.
With minimal assistance for bowlers and plenty of value for shots, the conditions point towards a high-scoring contest, especially considering the depth of batting on both sides.
Weather, however, has been a talking point in recent days.
The India–South Africa encounter in Lucknow was abandoned due to dense fog, raising concerns among fans ahead of the Ahmedabad fixture.
According to AccuWeather, the forecast for December 19, 2025, offers reassurance, with clear conditions and good visibility expected during the evening, setting the stage for uninterrupted action at the world’s largest cricket stadium.
At venues like Ahmedabad, evening games often bring dew into play. If that happens, bowling second becomes a challenge, with wet ball conditions making it difficult for spinners to grip and pacers to control yorkers. In such a scenario, the team winning the toss is likely to opt for bowling first, aiming to chase under more favourable conditions. South Africa, on the other hand, have traditionally been comfortable chasing big scores, relying on power-hitters who can exploit a skiddy surface under lights.
