Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, engaged with German think-tanks and academic institutions in Berlin on India’s role in a rapidly changing global landscape.
At the Hertie School, he highlighted democracy as more than a system of government, describing it as a continuous process of engagement, responsibility, and accountability.
Gandhi reflected on leadership, global responsibility, and the evolving power dynamics worldwide, stressing the need for inclusive education and international cooperation to address structural inequalities.
He met with Germany’s Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil, former Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Environment Minister Carsten Schneider to discuss global affairs, trade, climate change, and strengthening India-Germany relations. The discussions emphasized forward-looking partnerships and sustainable, people-centric solutions.
Gandhi also addressed the Indian community in Berlin at the “Connecting Cultures” event organized by the Indian Overseas Congress.
He praised their role as ambassadors of India, reaffirmed his party’s commitment to truth and democratic values, and contrasted the Congress’s principles with those of the RSS, emphasizing the importance of truth over power.
Through these engagements, Gandhi underscored India’s democratic values, global responsibility, and the significance of nurturing international and diaspora connections in addressing shared challenges.
