BJP leader JP Nadda has sharply criticized the Congress Party, alleging that some insiders in the party were involved in the 2013 Jhiram Ghati Maoist attack that killed senior Congress leaders during a campaign rally in Chhattisgarh.
Nadda claimed at a public event in Janjgir-Champa that Congress governments had colluded with Maoists, and contrasted this with the BJP’s current push against Naxalism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The attack in 2013 saw a convoy of Congress leaders ambushed by Maoist insurgents in the Jhiram valley of Bastar, resulting in the deaths of several top leaders including former state party chief Nand Kumar Patel and opposition leader Mahendra Karma.
