Mumbai, Dec 23: Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has openly questioned the selection choices of the Indian squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, particularly the inclusion of Ishan Kishan and Washington Sundar. Jaffer suggested that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jitesh Sharma should have been picked instead of Kishan and Sundar, expressing his views on social media platform X.
Kishan’s selection came after his strong performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, while Sundar was included as one of four spinners in India’s 15-man squad. The squad also features captain Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Rinku Singh and others.
Jaffer argued that, given team balance, Jaiswal and Jitesh deserved spots ahead of the duo, especially with established spinners already in the mix.
