Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor-turned-politician Vijay on Wednesday launched a fierce criticism of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), claiming that the party has become the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “first slave” in Tamil Nadu politics.In a statement, Vijay accused the DMK leadership of aligning with the BJP and failing to stand independently for the people. He suggested that the ruling party has lost its political direction and integrity, describing its conduct as submissive to national political pressures.
Vijay, who heads the TVK — a party he formed with ambitions ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections — urged his supporters to remain focused on grassroots mobilisation. He stressed the importance of ensuring that all eligible voters are included in electoral rolls and encouraged party workers to help new voters register.
The TVK leader also highlighted the enthusiastic backing from youth and women at recent public meetings, asserting that this momentum reflects growing public trust in his party’s message. He called on his supporters to reject what he described as divisive political tactics and to stay united in campaigning for change.
Vijay’s remarks reflect escalating political rhetoric as his party seeks to position itself as a major contender against established parties in the run-up to the state elections.
