Christmas was celebrated with profound devotion, warmth and festive splendour across Tamil Nadu as thousands of Christians flocked to churches for the traditional midnight prayers.

From small parish chapels to towering basilicas, sanctuaries were transformed into dazzling hubs of faith, adorned with glittering lights, stars, cribs and vibrant decorations that added to the joy of the holy occasion.

Across the State, families gathered together to offer prayers, sing carols and participate in the solemn yet joyous holy mass commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. The celebrations radiated peace, love and unity, reflecting the deep spiritual bond shared by the community.

At the globally renowned Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in Velankanni, an overwhelming sea of devotees witnessed the midnight mass with reverence. Special prayers were conducted and the Christmas message emphasising love, compassion and universal brotherhood was delivered.

Massive arrangements were put in place to manage the huge influx of worshippers, ensuring a peaceful and spiritually enriching celebration.
Chennai witnessed grand celebrations at prominent churches.

The Annai Velankanni Church in Besant Nagar sparkled with decorative lights as thousands participated in the midnight service.

The historic Santhome Basilica in Mylapore too saw an impressive turnout, with devotees attending special prayers and mass in a deeply spiritual atmosphere filled with carols and Christmas hymns.

Similar scenes of devotion and festivity unfolded in Puducherry, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchy, Nagercoil, Tuticorin, Nagapattinam and several other districts.

Priests led special liturgical services, conveying messages of peace, harmony and goodwill. Families exchanged greetings, shared festive meals and celebrated the occasion with warmth and happiness.

With prayers, music and heartfelt celebrations, Christmas in Tamil Nadu truly reflected the spirit of hope, joy and togetherness, spreading festive cheer across the State.
