Commuters in the city faced inconvenience on Tuesday morning as Chennai Metro services were disrupted due to a technical glitch affecting the direct train link between Chennai Central and the Airport via Koyambedu.

The temporary halt in services has forced passengers to adjust their travel plans and use alternative routes on the metro network.

According to an official statement from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), the direct metro train service that runs between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Central Metro Station and Chennai Airport on the Green Line via Anna Nagar and Koyambedu has been suspended until further notice following a technical fault. This disruption has particularly impacted commuters heading to the airport from central parts of the city.

Passengers travelling on the Green Line towards the airport are being asked to interchange at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station, where they can switch to the Blue Line to continue their journey. Similarly, commuters coming from the Green Line and heading to Blue Line destinations are also required to change trains at the same interchange station.

CMRL clarified that apart from the inter-corridor service disruption, both the Green Line and the Blue Line metro trains are operating as per the regular weekday schedule on their respective sections. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel keeping the interchange requirement in mind until the issue is resolved.
