Intermittent and light rain was recorded across Chennai and its suburban areas on New Year’s Eve, but the weather conditions did little to dampen the festive mood of residents.Several parts of the city, including major neighbourhoods and outskirts, experienced brief spells of rain through the evening. Despite the showers, people turned out in large numbers to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, with festivities continuing across popular public spots, hotels, and residential areas.
Authorities maintained enhanced security and traffic regulation as celebrations went ahead smoothly, even as the light drizzle added a pleasant touch to the night’s celebrations.
