The Tamil Nadu government has announced a special Pongal bonus for its government employees and pensioners as part of festival season benefits ahead of Pongal 2026.

A government order has been issued allocating ₹183.86 crore for the disbursement of this bonus to eligible beneficiaries.

Under the announcement made by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, employees belonging to Group C and D will receive an additional ad-hoc bonus of up to ₹3,000 as a Pongal gift. This includes support for those drawing consolidated pay or time-scale salaries.

In addition to the main bonus, retired government employees and family pensioners from the same categories will be entitled to a bonus of ₹1,000 as a festival gift, recognising their service and contribution over the years.

The funds set aside by the State aim to ensure timely credit of bonuses into bank accounts ahead of the harvest festival, bringing cheer to employees and their families. The bonus is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support lower-income government staff and retirees with festival-related financial relief.

Further details regarding exact disbursement dates and procedures are expected to be communicated by the government soon.
