The traditional Jallikattu event at Avaniyapuram in Madurai will be held on January 15 as part of the Pongal celebrations. Veterinary teams have begun health checks for the participating bulls, examining eyes, horns, teeth, and height to ensure safety. Arrangements worth around ₹67 lakh are underway for the event. Following Avaniyapuram, Jallikattu will be held at Palamedu on January 16 and Alanganallur on January 17.
