Kuala Lumpur, Jan 2: A new deep-sea search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has commenced in the Indian Ocean, over a decade after the plane disappeared with 239 people on board. Malaysia’s Transport Ministry confirmed that the vessel Armada 86 05, carrying two autonomous underwater vehicles, has reached the designated search area from Fremantle Port, Australia.
Although not explicitly named, the ship is widely identified as belonging to Ocean Infinity, which conducted a previous search in 2018 and has since upgraded its technology and refined the probable crash zone.
MH370 vanished on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
While debris has washed up along East Africa and Indian Ocean islands, no main wreckage or bodies have been recovered.
