The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TANGEDCO) has announced planned power cuts in several parts of Chennai for Wednesday, Jan 7, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance work on the power network. According to the official notice, electricity supply will be suspended from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in selected localities. The affected areas include parts of Dharamani Area, Kannagam, Periyar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur and Indira Nagar. Residents in these neighbourhoods are advised to plan ahead for the temporary interruption.
TANGEDCO has assured that power supply will resume once the maintenance work is completed, and urged people to take necessary precautions during the outage period.
The scheduled shutdown is part of routine infrastructure upkeep to ensure reliable electricity supply and address technical issues in the grid.
