Senior BJP leader K. Annamalai has strongly criticised remarks made by Tamil Nadu ministers of the ruling DMK over the recent Thiruparankundram hill lamp issue, saying that party members have spoken “without restraint” and risk offending public sentiments. .
In a post on social media, Annamalai accused DMK leaders of disrespecting the longstanding spiritual traditions and worship rights of people in the state. He condemned comments by ministers that dismissed historical practices around the sacred lamp, calling such views offensive to the religious sentiments of Hindus in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai warned that if the DMK continues to engage in such rhetoric and undermine cultural practices, the people of Tamil Nadu will soon teach them a lesson at the polls. He also reiterated that attempts to create division in society would not be tolerated by the public.
His remarks add to the growing political debate around religious traditions and governance in the state ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
