DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam) General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth addressed party workers and supporters at the party’s Makkal Urimai Meetpu Maanadu 2.0 held near Veppur in Cuddalore on Friday evening. The event drew significant attention as the party prepared for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Speaking at the gathering, Premalatha said that discussions with party functionaries had concluded and a decision on which political alliance the DMDK will join has already been taken internally.
She stressed that the alliance choice was guided by the opinions of district leaders and grassroots workers. However, she did not publicly announce the name of the party or alliance partner at the conference.
Premalatha emphasized that DMDK would only align with a political partner that respects the party and its cadre, and asserted that the alliance would be a strong and winning combination in the state election. She suggested that there was no need to rush into making the announcement when other major parties have yet to declare their alliances publicly.
She said that the party remains committed to its principles and would proceed carefully in finalizing electoral strategies.
