Mississippi, Jan 12: A 24-year-old man, Daricka M. Moore, killed six people in rural Clay County, Mississippi, on Friday, authorities said.Victims included his father, brother, uncle, a 7-year-old cousin, a church pastor, and the pastor’s brother.
Moore was arrested at a roadblock in Cedarbluff just before midnight after a multi-agency law enforcement response.
Moore is being held without bail on murder charges and is expected to appear in court Monday.
District Attorney Scott Colom said he may pursue the death penalty. Officials said Moore acted alone, and no other injuries were reported.
The rampage began at Moore’s family home, where he killed his father, brother, and uncle.
He then went to a cousin’s house, fatally shooting a 7-year-old girl and threatening another child.
Moore later attacked the Apostolic Church of The Lord Jesus, killing the pastor, Rev. Barry Bradley, and his brother, and stealing a vehicle.
Authorities are investigating how Moore obtained his weapons and continue probing his motive. The killings have deeply shaken the local community.
