Coimbatore, Jan 12: BJP national working president Nitin Nabin, while on a two-day visit to Coimbatore, strongly criticised the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu, accusing it of insulting Sanatana traditions, engaging in corruption, and practicing family and ‘fake’ religious politics that have caused deep dissatisfaction among the people. Nabin took to social media to express his views, emphasising the rich heritage of Sanatana culture and Tamil Nadu’s unique contribution to it. He detailed how Swami Vivekananda’s meditation in Kanyakumari in 1892 symbolised a spiritual resurgence that later spread across India. He also highlighted the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote Tamil language and culture nationally through initiatives like the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, installation of the Sengol in Parliament, and integrating the teachings of Thirukkural and Subramania Bharathi with the broader national ethos.
Nabin claimed that under the current DMK regime, Tamil Nadu’s great traditions are being disrespected — from mocking rituals like lighting lamps for Lord Murugan to ridiculing Hindu beliefs — and that corruption and political nepotism have hurt public sentiment. He argued that this pattern would lead to the DMK’s political decline starting from Coimbatore, mirroring how the Congress faced setbacks for opposing the Ram Setu project.
Calling for change, Nabin urged people to move beyond ‘family politics’ and the administration he described as inefficient, and to embrace development, accountable governance, and a future rooted in Sanatana civilisational values. He concluded with rallying slogans: “Long live Tamil Nadu! Long live India!”
