As part of the Pongal festival celebrations, the world-famous Jallikattu bull-taming event will be held at Alanganallur in Madurai district on January.
Grand preparations are underway at the venue to ensure the traditional sport is conducted with fervour and safety.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is scheduled to inaugurate the event in person, marking his presence at one of the state’s most iconic cultural traditions. The announcement has generated excitement among participants and spectators, with organisers finalising arrangements for crowd management and event infrastructure.
Jallikattu, which draws large crowds from across Tamil Nadu and beyond, is a hallmark of Pongal festivities and celebrated as a tribute to Tamil heritage and rural sportsmanship. Ahead of the Alanganallur competition, preparations at nearby Palamedu are also progressing rapidly, with upgraded spectator facilities and safety barricades being installed.
