Today marks the birth anniversary of Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran, affectionately known as M.G.R. — a towering figure in Tamil cinema and one of the most influential political leaders in the history of Tamil Nadu.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the party founded by M.G.R., paid heartfelt tribute to their charismatic leader on social media and in public messages today. In its message, the party referred to him as “our timeless teacher and leader” whose vision and leadership continue to inspire generations.
Under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the AIADMK called upon its members and supporters to carry forward the ideals and spirit of M.G.R., reaffirming their commitment to his philosophy of serving the people and strengthening the party’s connection with the public.
The tribute emphasized M.G.R.’s dual legacy as both a beloved film star and a visionary politician who founded a powerful mass movement through AIADMK. His ability to connect with ordinary people, especially the working class and underprivileged, earned him enduring respect and loyalty.
