A key consultative meeting of Tamil Nadu Congress leaders wrapped up in New Delhi on Saturday as the party gears up for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The session, led by senior national leaders including Rahul Gandhi, focused on election preparations and alliance strategy discussions.
The meeting brought together state Congress-in-charge functionaries and organisational leaders. One of the major decisions from the discussions was an instruction from Rahul Gandhi to party functionaries not to speak publicly about alliance matters at this stage.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai reiterated that party members should refrain from posting speculations or comments about alliances on social media. He said the final decisions would be taken by the party leadership, and state leaders are expected to adhere to those decisions.
During the closed-door meeting in the national capital, leaders were also individually asked for their views on alliance possibilities. Although specific outcomes were not publicly revealed, the consultative process was seen as part of broader strategy planning for the assembly polls.
The Congress party is evaluating its future electoral partners as the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach.
