Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has defended Governor R.N. Ravi’s walkout from the state Assembly, stating that there was nothing wrong with his decision to leave without reading the customary address.
Speaking to reporters amid political tension during the Assembly’s opening session, Palaniswami said the Governor was justified in highlighting errors and inaccuracies in the speech prepared by the state government. He added that it was unreasonable to expect the Governor to read a draft containing misleading information.
The AIADMK leader also accused the ruling DMK of attempting to create a negative perception of the Governor’s actions. He emphasized that pointing out flaws in the speech was within the Governor’s rights and suggested that the state government’s refusal to acknowledge these concerns led to the impasse.
Palaniswami’s comments come as debates continue over procedural norms and constitutional conventions in the Assembly, reflecting the broader political divide in the state.
