Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said that if his party is voted to power and forms the government, it will provide financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh to the family of anyone who dies while participating in Jallikattu, the traditional bull‑taming sport.
He made this announcement during a recent public event.
Palaniswami said Jallikattu is a proud Tamil tradition, and his party will ensure support and protection for those who take part.
He emphasised that the proposed financial aid would provide relief to the families in case of tragic incidents.
He also urged participants and organisers to follow safety measures to minimise accidents, expressing hope that the scheme would give security and confidence to Jallikattu players and their families.
