Bengaluru/Mohali, Jan 27: Ahead of their Ranji Trophy 2025–26 match against Punjab, Karnataka have made key changes to their team. Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed as the new captain, replacing Mayank Agarwal for the crucial fixture starting on February 1 in Mohali.Padikkal earned the leadership role after a strong domestic season, including excellent performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His recent form helped convince selectors to give him the captaincy in a must-win game for Karnataka.
The team also welcomed back India star KL Rahul, who has been included in the squad after a period away from first-class cricket. Rahul’s return is seen as a major boost to Karnataka’s batting lineup ahead of the important clash.
Along with Rahul, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has rejoined the side to strengthen the bowling attack. However, Karun Nair will miss the game due to injury, and Abhinav Manohar has been dropped from the squad.
Karnataka currently sit third in Elite Group B and need a win against Punjab to stay in contention for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy.
