Sony Pictures Entertainment, in association with Amazon MGM Studios, has unveiled the first trailer of Masters of the Universe, marking the grand return of one of pop culture’s most iconic franchises to the big screen. The live-action spectacle is set to hit Indian theatres on June 5.Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe is reimagined as an epic sci-fi action adventure that blends nostalgia with cutting-edge cinematic scale. The film follows Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who has been separated from his home planet Eternia for 15 years. Drawn back by the mystical Sword of Power, Adam returns to find his world in ruins under the tyrannical rule of Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto.
As Eternia stands on the brink of destruction, Adam reunites with his trusted allies—Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan / Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba). Forced to confront his past and embrace his destiny, Adam transforms into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, to battle evil and restore balance to his shattered world.
The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast including Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley, with Kristen Wiig lending her voice to Roboto. With its promise of high-octane action, emotional depth, and stunning visuals, the film aims to bring the beloved Eternia universe alive for a new generation of audiences.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, Masters of the Universe will be released theatrically in IMAX and other premium formats. In India, the film will release in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment India, on June 5.
