Asked to bat first, the Black Caps piled up an imposing 215 for 7, powered by a blistering opening stand between Tim Seifert and Devon Conway, who added 100 runs in just 8.2 overs. India fought back in the latter half of the innings, with Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav claiming two wickets apiece, but Daryl Mitchell’s late cameo of 39 off 18 balls ensured a strong finish.
India’s chase never gained momentum after Abhishek Sharma was dismissed off the first ball. Tight bowling and sharp fielding from New Zealand kept the pressure on, and the hosts were eventually bowled out for 165. Shivam Dube stood out with a sensational 65 off 23 balls, smashing three fours and seven sixes, but lacked support at the other end.
