Gold prices in Chennai saw a decline today after recent highs, offering some relief to buyers ahead of the festive season and wedding purchases.
According to local market rates, 22-carat gold is trading around ā¹16,800 per 10 grams, down from higher levels in recent days, while 24-carat gold is being quoted at about ā¹18,328 per 10 grams in the city. These rates reflect a slight correction from the previous close, with both purity levels easing as demand cooled and global prices eased.
The drop comes after gold had surged sharply in recent weeks, driven by safe-haven buying and volatile global cues, but profit-booking and market adjustments contributed to the softer tone. Analysts say such corrections are common amid shifting trends in international bullion markets.
Silver prices also moderated today, tracking broader commodity price movements, and are being updated regularly by local traders.
