The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced an extension of the application deadline for its two‑year full‑time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, giving prospective students more time to apply for the 2026 academic session. The new closing date for applications is February 8, 2026, up from the earlier deadline of January 31.
The MBA programme, offered by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) at IIT Madras, is open to fresh graduates as well as working professionals. Admissions are based on CAT 2025 scores for Indian candidates and GMAT scores for foreign nationals. Candidates seeking admission must hold a recognised undergraduate degree with a minimum of 60 per cent marks — with a relaxed threshold of 55 per cent for SC, ST and PwD applicants. Final‑year students are also eligible, provided they complete their degree requirements by September 30, 2026.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for personal interviews across several cities in March. Interview dates include March 6–8 in Mumbai, March 13–15 in Delhi, March 20–22 in Chennai, and March 28–29 in both Hyderabad and Kolkata. The final admission results are expected in May 2026, with orientation, registration and the start of classes scheduled for July. IIT Madras officials highlighted that the programme has a strong track record, with 100 per cent placements and the highest package reaching ₹35.5 lakh per annum in recent years.
The extension reflects the institute’s effort to encourage a broader and more diverse pool of applicants to one of India’s premier MBA programmes, blending academic rigour with practical exposure to prepare students for leadership roles across sectors.
