Actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar’s much-anticipated digital project Lucky The Superstar has locked its official release date, the makers announced on Monday. The feel-good Tamil film is set to premiere directly on the streaming platform JioHotstar on February 20, 2026, skipping a traditional theatrical run.Part of JioHotstar’s 2026 slate of original films and series, Lucky The Superstar marks GV Prakash’s first outing in a web film format and is described as a heartwarming story centred around a gifted puppy whose presence brings unexpected fortune and emotional resonance to those it encounters. The narrative unfolds as the protagonist, played by GV Prakash, realises the true power of the dog after initially parting with it and then embarking on a mission to reunite with his four-legged companion.
The cast also includes Anaswara Rajan in a key role alongside Devadarshini, Kovai Sarala, Subbu Panchu Arunachalam, Elango Kumaravel, Namo Narayana, and Daniel. Directed by Uday Mahesh, known for his acting role in the series The Family Man, the film will be available in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, broadening its reach to audiences across India. Lucky The Superstar is produced by Kandasamy and Pushpa Kandasamy, and features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
