Actor Atharvaa Murali continues to strengthen his position as one of K-Town’s most bankable performers, appealing to audiences across age groups with his careful choice of roles. After earning widespread appreciation for his mature performance in DNA and making a strong impact in Parasakthi, Atharvaa is now set to surprise fans with a first-of-its-kind dual role in the upcoming film ‘Valai’. The recently released teaser has already generated promising buzz, hinting at an intense and gripping cinematic experience.Directed by Jeeva Shankar, known for his distinctive films such as Naan and Amara Kaaviyam, Valai is set against the backdrop of Rameswaram. The film revolves around two central characters, Sarah and Kutty, both portrayed by Atharvaa Murali. While the setting touches Rameswaram, the film is not a conventional portrayal of fishermen’s lives but instead unfolds as a revenge-driven drama with a unique emotional core. Actresses Rupa Manjari and Vani Bhojan play the female leads, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Murali Sharma, Aadukalam Naren, Arjai, Jayaprakash, Arul D. Shankar, Thulasi, Mayilsamy, and Imman Annachi.
Speaking about the film, director Jeeva Shankar said that Valai explores revenge from a fresh perspective, raising the central question of whether revenge can truly serve as a solution to injustice. He emphasised that the idea is not presented as a moral lecture but is woven into an engaging screenplay designed to keep audiences invested. The film has completed shooting, with post-production nearing completion, and promises a different and refreshing cinematic experience despite being set in a familiar locale.
Produced by Pepsi V.S. Balamurali under the banner Raadhu Infotainment, Valai boasts a strong technical team. Ghibran has composed the music, with four songs shot across Andaman, Chennai, and Rameswaram. Cinematography is handled by director Jeeva Shankar himself, editing by Sathish Suriya, art direction by Shanmugaraja, production design by Gopi Prasannaa, and stunt choreography by Stunner Sam. Lyrics are penned by Karthik Netha, Mohanraj, and Vamanaa.
