The much-anticipated Tamil film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay and directed by H Vinoth, may finally hit cinemas on February 20, after the makers agreed to make the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)-requested cuts to the film’s content. The film’s certification was delayed for over a month after its original January 9 release date was postponed because the CBFC referred the movie to a revising committee over objections to certain scenes.
Earlier legal battles saw the producers approach the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court as they fought the delay.
Now, with a new cut completed and plans to withdraw pending court cases once formalities are done, Jana Nayagan — expected to be Vijay’s farewell project before fully entering politics — is likely to be certified and released later this month.
