Actor Mahendran, who began his journey in Tamil cinema as a celebrated child artiste fondly known as “Master Mahendran”, continues to carve a distinct path as a performer by choosing story-driven roles. Having shared screen space with top stars from a very young age, Mahendran has successfully transitioned from child actor to a powerful character and lead performer.
His portrayal of the young antagonist Bhavani in Vijay’s blockbuster Master, released during the Covid period, proved to be a major turning point, earning him widespread recognition and critical acclaim. Since then, Mahendran has consciously focused on meaningful cinema, balancing strong characters across films and web series. He has also expanded his footprint beyond Tamil, actively working in Malayalam and Telugu industries, emerging as a busy South Indian actor.
In this backdrop comes ‘Neelakanda’, a grand action film starring Mahendran, which has been released in Tamil and Telugu. The film is produced by M. Srinivasulu and D. Venugopal under the LS Productions banner and is written and directed by Rakesh Madhavan. Anil Inamadu serves as the executive producer, while cinematography and editing are handled by Shravan G. Kumar. Music for the film is composed by Mark Prashanth.
The cast of Neelakanda includes Yashna Muthuluri, Neha Patan, Snehulal, Ramki, Bablou Prithviraj, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Bharath Reddy, Sathya Prakash, Chitram Seenu, Sivakarthik Thanda, among others, alongside Mahendran in the lead role.
Set in the action genre, the film revolves around the life of a simple tailor who has deep faith in karma. When unexpected problems turn his life upside down, he is forced to confront a powerful enemy who becomes the catalyst for his transformation. The narrative explores how an ordinary man rises against adversity, blending action with emotional depth.
Adding to the buzz, Mahendran’s ‘Neelakanda’ has been released directly on the Sun NXT OTT platform.
