Zimbabwe produced a clinical bowling display to register a thumping victory over Oman in their Group B opener of the T20 World Cup in Colombo on Monday. After opting to bowl first, Zimbabwe’s pace trio of Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans ran through the Omani batting line-up, picking up three wickets apiece. Oman never recovered from the early damage and were reduced to a precarious 27 for 5 before being bundled out for just 103 in their 20 overs. In reply, Zimbabwe made light work of the modest target, reaching 104 for the loss of a few wickets in just 13.3 overs. Brian Bennett anchored the chase with a calm and assured unbeaten 48, ensuring there were no hiccups as Zimbabwe crossed the finish line comfortably. The emphatic win gave Zimbabwe a perfect start to their T20 World Cup campaign, while Oman were left searching for answers after a disappointing opening performance.
