Senior DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister, Duraimurugan, has been admitted to Apollo Hospital on Greams Road in Chennai after sustaining injuries in a fall at his residence.
The 87-year-old politician, who also serves as general secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has been facing occasional health issues related to his age and has undergone periodic medical check-ups and treatments at the same hospital.
According to reports, the minister slipped and fell at home, leading to injuries that required immediate medical attention. Doctors have admitted him for observation and treatment following the incident.
Medical sources say a multidisciplinary team of specialists is overseeing his care, and further details about his condition and treatment plan are expected to be released once assessments are complete.
Duraimurugan has a long political career and has been a prominent figure in state politics, representing veteran leadership within the DMK. Due to his advanced age, he has been periodically hospitalized for routine health concerns and monitoring.
