At least three Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists were killed and nine others injured after heavily armed militants attacked the Khonia Khel Police Post in Bannu district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Wednesday. The assault took place late Tuesday in the Wazir sub-division near North Waziristan. A large group of attackers attempted to encircle the post, but alert police personnel retaliated, leading to a heavy exchange of fire. Additional police, along with Quick Response Force and Rapid Response Force units, were rushed to the scene, forcing the militants to retreat. One police officer was injured. Two slain militants were identified, including commander Umar Azam alias Khizmeti. Militants also attempted attacks on two other police facilities the same night, but those were repelled. Security operations in the region have since been intensified. @@-
