The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that India is reviewing an invitation from the United States to join a newly proposed international body called the Board of Peace aimed at supporting peace and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters that New Delhi has received a formal communication from Washington regarding participation in the board but has not yet taken a final decision. He reiterated that India consistently supports peace, stability and dialogue in West Asia, but stopped short of confirming whether India will attend the board’s first meeting, scheduled for 19 February. The Board of Peace was launched under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 and envisages a transitional authority to help with governance, reconstruction and long-term stability in Gaza after years of conflict. It is chaired by US President Donald Trump and includes several high-profile international figures and countries that have already expressed willingness to participate.
