Passengers at Tambaram railway station can now enjoy a new air‑conditioned waiting room, inaugurated on 14 February 2026, aimed at improving comfort for daily commuters and long-distance travellers.The facility features soft seating, free Wi‑Fi, mobile charging points, drinking water, and separate toilet facilities for men and women. A nursing room is also available for mothers travelling with infants, ensuring convenience for all passengers.
The waiting room operates 24 hours a day and is a paid facility, with a nominal charge of ₹35 per hour. Railway officials said the upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger amenities at one of Chennai’s busiest suburban rail hubs.
