The final electoral roll for Tamil Nadu will be published on February 23, following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik announced.
The voter list was earlier scheduled to be released on February 17 but was postponed in view of procedural requirements and directions from the Election Commission of India and the Supreme Court of India.
Officials said the revision exercise was undertaken with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. During the draft publication, a large number of entries were scrutinised and names were deleted due to reasons such as duplication, migration and death. Voters were given an opportunity to file claims and objections within the stipulated time.
Authorities stated that lakhs of applications seeking inclusion and corrections were received during the revision period. The final roll, to be released later this month, will serve as the official voter database for upcoming elections in the state.
The Election Department has urged voters to verify their names in the final list once it is published and report any discrepancies promptly.
