Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted French President Emmanuel Macron in Mumbai today for wide-ranging bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening India-France ties across defence, technology, trade, and global cooperation.
The leaders jointly inaugurated the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, an initiative to boost collaboration between startups, researchers, industry, and academia. Talks also covered cooperation in defence manufacturing, civil nuclear energy, space, climate action, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.
Before the discussions, President Macron paid tribute to the victims of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, reaffirming France’s support for India in counter-terrorism. Both leaders are expected to explore new avenues in trade and strategic cooperation, including major defence and aerospace initiatives, during Macron’s three-day visit.
