The Election Commission of India has begun high-level consultations in Chennai as part of preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with other Election Commissioners, is reviewing poll readiness with senior State officials.
Meetings are also being planned with recognised political parties to gather feedback and ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process.
The discussions are focused on logistics, law and order arrangements, deployment of security personnel, voter roll management and enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct once elections are announced.
With the State heading toward a crucial electoral battle, the Commission’s visit signals the formal intensification of poll preparations to ensure free, fair and transparent elections across Tamil Nadu.
