Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday said the political alliance his party is forming for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be formally announced by February 28.
Speaking to reporters, Ramadoss said discussions are underway with like-minded parties and that decisions are being taken based on a clear strategy for the upcoming polls. He emphasised that the announcement would come soon and appealed to supporters to wait for the official declaration.
Meanwhile, a Chennai court has directed Anbumani Ramadoss and the Election Commission of India to file their responses in a petition filed by Ramadoss regarding the use of the partyās name and symbol. The matter has been posted for further hearing on March 9.
The case arises from an internal dispute within the Pattali Makkal Katchi over leadership and control of the partyās official identity, including its election symbol.
In his petition, Ramadoss sought to restrain Anbumani from using the partyās name, flag and the āmangoā symbol, claiming that such usage is not authorised.
During the hearing, the court took note of the submissions and issued notices to Anbumani and the Election Commission, asking them to place their stand on record. The petition highlights concerns over alleged confusion among party cadre and the public due to the ongoing leadership tussle.
