V. K. Sasikala, close aide of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, on Thursday announced that the name of her new political party will be unveiled within a week. Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport, she confirmed that the party will certainly contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Sasikala said discussions are currently underway regarding a possible alliance and expressed hope that the talks would lead to a favourable outcome.
Addressing concerns about the limited time left before the elections, she said there would be no challenge, asserting that the people of Tamil Nadu are well aware of her leadership and public life.
She also paid homage to veteran leader R. Nallakannu, who recently passed away. Praising his lifelong dedication to the poor, Sasikala noted that although he never held positions such as MP or MLA, he remained steadfast to his ideology and movement. She described his death as an irreparable loss to his family and followers.
